When we returned from New Zealand in early 2015 after selling Ladybug II (See Ladybug Blog) we did so for two reasons. The first was a financial setback resulting from a poor investment choice I had made. The second was that Rani's parents were not in the best of health and Rani wanted to spend more time with them. At that time, we agreed that we would return to full time work and Rani would spend a good portion of her time in the UK with her family.
Well we are now about four years into this plan and have saved up enough that we can go vagabonding again for a while. The next adventure beckons, but will be balanced with helping to care for Rani's mother.
Our friends Kurt and Nancy who live in California plan to sail their 39 foot yacht, Raven, from Mexico to New Zealand and have invited us along. All of us will sail Raven from Ensenada, Mexico (just south of Tijuana) to La Paz in the Sea of Cortez.
We will then crew with Captain Kurt on the long open ocean passage to French Polynesia and Nancy will join us there. After a few months in the Marquesas, Tuamotus, and Society islands, we will continue west through the Cook islands, with possible stops in the Cooks and Samoa or perhaps at Palmerston and Niue before arriving in Tonga. From Tonga we will sail south to New Zealand. We look forward to doing some land travel in New Zealand before returning to Canada in 2020
